What do we do when the racing season ends? Put our feet up and chill out? And lose all that hard earned fitness? Not this time. TRANSCRIPT What do you do when your race season is over? I've been asking myself that question all week. For almost an entire year, my life revolved around one goal: qualify for the World Championships. Six days a week I trained. Every workout had a purpose. Every interval session, every endurance ride, every swim, every run—it all pointed toward one day on the calendar. When my alarm went off at 6:00 a.m., I didn't have to negotiate with myself. I knew why I was getting up. There was no debate. The goal made the decision for me. And after nearly a year of consistent training... I qualified. It was one of the most satisfying athletic achievements of my life. Then, because I'm human—and because my ego wasn't quite finished—I signed up for one more race. I wanted to prove to myself that qualifying wasn't a fluke. Fortunately, that race went well too.
