About this episode

John Leguizamo discusses his career and the challenges of Latino representation in Hollywood with Jorge and Paola Ramos.

John Leguizamo is starring in The Odyssey , one of this summer’s biggest blockbusters, so we’re revisiting Jorge and Paola’s conversation with the Colombian-American actor to reflect on building a career in an industry that has long offered few leading roles for Latinos. Together, they look back on the experiences that shaped Leguizamo’s view of Hollywood’s lack of diverse representation, from his early days in theater to working on Carlito's Way . Jorge and Paola also discuss his perception of Latinidad and community organizing, along with John’s outspoken criticism of the Trump administration and why he identifies as a democratic socialist.
