The episode explores the controversial death of Jessica Alva, ruled a suicide, but believed by her family to be a murder.
Early in the morning on April 2nd, 2019, a 911 call was placed from a San Francisco apartment. When responders arrived, they found 35-year-old Jessica Alva in serious condition. They were told by her boyfriend that he’d found her hanging and that she’d attempted suicide. Four days later, with her mother and siblings by her side, Jessica died in the hospital. Investigators ruled her death a suicide and closed the case. Her family feels that there is plenty of evidence to support that Jessica was murdered by her boyfriend. They have continued to advocate for Jessica, and for other MMIW, and refuse to accept that Jessica chose to end her life. This is her story.
