What began in 1981 as the original scrappy, cabin-in-the-woods nightmare has since morphed into a full-blown franchise of splatter, slapstick, and increasingly unfunny trauma. Directed by Sébastien Vaniček and starring Souheila Yacoub , Hunter Doohan , and Luciane Buchanan , this latest instalment swaps out “groovy” one-liners for something a little more… intense. Set around the worst family gathering… perhaps ever… the film promises Deadites , dismemberment and dread . Sadly it delivers a bit more dourness, depression and desultory franchise nods. To unpack it all, it’s just the two-man mythology crew this week: Dion and Quinny. No safety net, no Ash Williams —just two bearded men asking the big questions: How much gore is too much gore? Can a franchise lose its sense of fun? And “have you read Dungeon Crawler Carl yet?” Yep, from Deadites to dungeon runs, Dion and Quinny…
