About this episode

Sasha Whitney discusses her decision to leave a six-figure job and the implications of that choice for Black women in the workforce.

Last year, the media barely reported on the estimated 300,000 to 350,000 Black women being pushed out of the workforce. When it was reported on, it was framed as these women "leaving" the workforce rather than the reality that there were a series of intentional policy choices in both private and public industry that forced them out.I am one of the Black women however who left, by choice. Choosing to leave a six-figure job in a time of economic uncertainty is not a decision that is made lightly however when it comes to your peace being compromised, the decision is pretty clear. This may or may not be a forever thing, time will tell but if I were to ever return to corporate, there are a few things I would do differently and look for in a work environment. #corporate #corporatelife #corporateculture 0:00 intro 1:46 entering corporate - 2009 5:41 why I left corporate - 2025 15:24 who walks away from a six-figure job?! 20:07 what would I need to go back? 32:18 scarcity or desperation keep you complacent 38:16 leave sooner, it will NOT get better 41:48 in closing
