Joya McCrory is a comedy writer from Detroit who likes to tell sneakily heartfelt stories full of weird humor about identity and figuring out one’s place in the world. Joya is a graduate of the University of Michigan, where she received a Summer Hopwood fiction award for her collection of short stories. She also studied screenwriting at UCLA. She is an alum of the 2021 Warner Bros. Television Workshop, where she was one of three comedy writers. She is currently a Writer/Producer on the award-winning show, ABBOTT ELEMENTARY (ABC).
