About this episode

The episode discusses the story of Jonah and the profound impact of the king of Nineveh's repentance.

The story of Jonah chapter 3 is often remembered for the whale, but the greatest miracle is what happened next. An entire city of roughly 600,000 people repented after hearing just five words from a reluctant prophet. At the center of that response was the king of Nineveh, one of the most powerful rulers of the ancient world, who stepped off his throne, removed his royal robes, and sat in ashes. His actions were not passive feelings of guilt but deliberate, costly choices. Each of us has areas of life where we quietly hold the controls while inviting God into only the parts we are comfortable with. True surrender means stepping off our own thrones entirely. Jesus did not ask us to add Him to our lives. He calls us to lay them down completely.
