It sold Israel the weapons no other country would, trained its pilots, and opened its airfields for the fight that secured Israel’s independence. In this interview, Czech-American pastor Martin Dzuris traces that little-known alliance — from a nineteenth-century blood-libel trial, through communism’s attempt to erase God from Czech society, to today’s Czech Republic: one of the most secular nations on earth, and yet one of Israel’s steadiest friends in Europe. It’s a story about history, but really it’s a story about Genesis 12:3. For now at least, Czechia has rejected God — but embraced His people. And His promised blessing was never conditioned on a nation’s godliness, any more than His curse is lifted by a nation’s theology. We’re calling this one ‘Blessed in Spite of Ourselves,’ because the same is true for the rest of us: none of us bless Israel perfectly, and yet God blesses those who do — in spite of their imperfections, and thank God, in spite of ours. Watch to find out why…
