On July 4th, 2026, Kern River Radio's own Neal and Amie Lyons-Preston took listeners on a two-hour journey through 250 years of American history — from the musket fire at Lexington Green to the shores of Normandy, from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial to the surface of the Moon. Built on four pillars — Faith, Family, Freedom, and Sacrifice — this special features the actual words of the men and women who built this country: Patrick Henry's "Give me liberty or give me death," Lincoln's Gettysburg Address, FDR's Pearl Harbor address, Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream," Neil Armstrong's first words from the Moon, and more. Along the way, Neal and Amie share a deeply personal moment — the story of Amy's grandfather, Master Sergeant Clifford David Lyons, a 15-year-old Marine from Arkansas who went straight from boot camp to the beaches of Normandy on D-Day and survived to tell the tale. The program closes with a live prayer over the Kern River Valley and a send-off into the Lake Isabella fireworks show.
