Pastor Mark Testerman discusses the nature of faith as agreement with God and the importance of trusting in His soft-spoken 'yes'.
Faith is agreement with God. But if we don’t meditate on the scriptures through the lens of the new covenant, how can we agree with His desires? Faith is trusting in God’s soft-spoken “yes” more than our ear-drum-shattering circumstances. Faith rests in Jesus’ finished work rather than in self-effort. Faith just says “yes” to what He has already done and to who He is in us. I grew up in a Pentecostal church; therefore, I was taught to shout at everything. We shouted at demons, we shouted at sickness and disease, we shouted when praying, and we shouted our way through every sermon. But through the revelation of the finished work of Jesus Christ, I learned that decibels were not my key to victory; it was faith. The faith that is empowered by grace. I’m talking about the faith that is especially expressed through the “soft-spoken yes.”
