[Part One of Two] Investigative journalists Mandy Matney and ⁠Liz Farrell⁠ dig into the Horry County Police Department's internal affairs investigation of the Scott Spivey case and the looming presence of former Deputy Chief Brandon Strickland throughout it.  Strickland insists he "stayed out of it" and "distanced" himself — yet there he is on recorded calls with Weldon Boyd admitting he was "working in the shadows," and — according to his own colleagues — sitting in on a meeting about Weldon Boyd’s phone, and walking into the evidence room to say "just give Weldon and Bradley their guns back."  We break down the IA interviews and learn more about what went on in the investigation leading up to the decision not to charge Weldon and his co-shooter.
