In this episode of Unexplained America, your host Lisa discusses the life and living legend of Elvis Presley, the King of Rock N' Roll. This is Part 1 of a 2 Part episode. In 1935, Elvis Presley is born in Tupelo, Mississippi, to Vernon and Gladys Presley. He is extremely close to his parents and will remain so his entire life. The family along with Elvis grandmother, Minnie Mae Hood Presley, move to Memphis in 1948 or so for work opportunities for Vernon. Elvis growing up and in Memphis shows a propensity and love for music and in 1954 after graduating high school he gets signed on with a local music label called Sun Records. Immediately his recordings at Sun make him a local celebrity. He has combined his love of Country, Gospel, Rhythem and Blues music into a new sound that will rock the nation. This episode will focus on Elvis life, and meteoric rise to fame from 1935 until his death on August 16, 1977. Part 2 will focus on his death, autopsy, and all the wild happenings surrounding the aftermath and the fact that people could not believe the King died. Stay tuned!!!
