The episode explores the history of the Waverley Hills Sanatorium in Kentucky during a tuberculosis outbreak in the early 1900s and its reputation as a haunted location.
In the early 1900's Kentucky's Jefferson County was struggling to contain an outbreak of TB. In the end, a vast new facility was built to try and get control of it, and treat all those who had ocntracted it. Many did not survive. The hospital was called the Waverley Hills Sanatorium.
