About this episode

The episode discusses practical tactics for artists to sell their work and make money, focusing on actionable strategies rather than mindset issues.

In this episode, we talk about the practical tactics we actually use to sell our art and make money as artists. This is not a mindset episode. We briefly acknowledge the shame, fear and awkwardness artists often carry around selling, but then we go all in on what we are doing right now: calls to action, repeating yourself, creating urgency, using scarcity ethically, building trust, newsletters, podcasts, websites, pre-orders, multiple income streams, hand-selling, word of mouth, and making it easier for people to buy the things you make. We talk about why creative business is different from traditional business, why selling art is not like selling toasters, and why artists need to stop assuming people will magically know what to do next. If you want people to buy your work, you have to show them the door. Then you have to show them again. And again. And again.
