About this episode
This episode explores the concept of freedom in Kenya over six decades after self-governance, examining political and economic challenges.
This Madaraka Day, we're asking a question that many Kenyans have been quietly wrestling with: Are we really free? More than six decades after gaining self-governance, Kenya continues to face challenges that make us question what freedom truly means. In this episode, I explore the gap between political freedom and lived reality. I examine whether modern forms of colonization still exist through economic dependence, foreign influence, and systems that continue to disadvantage ordinary Africans. I also discuss the colonization of the mind, the role of young people in shaping Kenya's future, and what true freedom should look like in 2026.
