"Carpe Diem" | Acts 28:17-31 In our final study in the book of Acts (Acts 18:17-31), Luke records the apostle Paul’s ministry while under house arrest in Rome. Acts ends, not with Paul free and traveling, but under house arrest in Rome. And yet, nothing about him feels restricted. Listen to how Luke describes it: Paul is “proclaiming the kingdom of God…with all boldness and without hindrance.” Without hindrance. He’s in chains. He’s confined. His future is uncertain. And still—bold, fruitful, and free. That’s what makes this moment so striking. The greatest limitation in Paul’s life becomes a platform for some of his greatest ministry. No excuses. No retreat into self-pity. Just a man so gripped by Christ that even confinement becomes opportunity. We tend to think, “I could do more if my situation were different.” Paul shows us the opposite: gospel confidence doesn’t wait for better circumstances—it seizes the moment right in front of us. That’s why our final message in Acts is called Carpe Diem—seize the day. The question isn’t whether opportunities to minister to others in the name of Christ exist. It’s whether we’ll see them… and step into them. So how do we become people like…
