House of the Dragon just killed off two major players — Chanel , Brandon and Sharmane recap the brutal "Butcher's Work" and the death nobody saw coming. 🐉Welcome back to We Was Watching, the podcast where we break down the shows everyone's talking about. This week we're recapping House of the Dragon Season 3 Episode 6, "Butcher's Work" — the HBO Max episode that opens on a slaughter and ends on one of the biggest departures from the books yet.We get into ALL of it: the Butcher's Ball and the muted, inglorious death of Criston Cole (Fabien Frankel), Rhaenyra's (Emma D'Arcy) crumbling reputation as Ormund Hightower astroturfs anti-Targaryen sentiment across King's Landing, Daemon going undercover and humiliating Ulf the White, the discontent brewing among the dragonseeds, Rhaenyra's failed attempt to assassinate Ormund, and Alicent (Olivia Cooke) being sent to Harrenhal. Then there's the shocking finale: the assassination of Lord Corlys Velaryon, the Sea Snake — a massive change from George R.R. Martin's Fire & Blood. We break down what works, what doesn't, and why this might be the episode that sparked GRRM's break with the show. Full spoiler-filled review…
