Matthew Smith is a design director working across strategy, type, interaction, illustration, and code. Matthew is also a writer , and runner . Most recently, Matthew was the associate design director at High Tide , a small full-service studio working across strategy, design, and experience for a wide range of clients—from early stage startups to legacy brands. In 2020, he founded Morning Type , an independent type practice where he also maintains the Type Foundry Directory and is building the Typeface Directory . Matthew is also a partner at Tipofili , the complementary type foundry to Louise Fili Ltd where he was previously an associate partner. Gathering dust to build a mountain.
