About this episode

This episode discusses the potential for severe thunderstorms and flash flooding in the region on Tuesday.

We may see a repeat of what we experienced late Saturday morning and afternoon, when slow-moving thunderstorms moved over the same places over and over again, something meteorologists call "training." The danger here would be another round of flash flooding. Downpours could begin in the morning through early afternoon, with these early rounds of thunderstorms most likely to bring flooding to the Hudson Valley, northern New Jersey and Connecticut. Later on in the afternoon and evening, more batches of storms could push through the region, though there could be a lull at some point. Storms could contain strong, damaging winds, hail and maybe even some isolated tornados, especially west of the city toward south Jersey, where breaks in the rain could make the air more unstable, upping the tornadic threat.
