Our guest, John Pierson, is the longtime Sports Director and News Anchor for Connecticut’s ABC affiliate, WTNH-TV. A proud Connecticut native, John has spent decades covering some of the state’s biggest sporting moments, including the Travelers Championship, The Connecticut Open, UConn Football, and the UConn men’s and women’s NCAA championship teams. Known for his outstanding storytelling and sports coverage, John has earned multiple New England Emmy nominations and two Emmy Awards — one in 2002 for his powerful report on the troubled youth of former UConn basketball star Caron Butler, and another in 2010 for a feature on the UConn women’s hockey team. Before joining News Channel 8 in 1995, John worked behind the scenes in production at ESPN, helping launch a remarkable broadcasting career that continues to inform and inspire viewers throughout Connecticut.
