About this episode

This episode reflects on the significance of work as a divine gift and encourages listeners to appreciate their labor in a spiritual context.

Work is not a consequence of the Fall. It is a gift that preceded it. Before sin entered the world, before anything broke or became difficult, God placed man in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. Work was designed for our good from the very beginning — established by a God who worked first and then rested, modeling for us the rhythm He built into human life from its earliest days. Colossians 3:23 reframes every kind of work with a single shift of perspective: whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord. Not for a boss. Not for a paycheck. Not for the approval of others. For Him. Jesus Himself modeled this, telling His Heavenly Father that He had brought glory on earth by finishing the work He was given to do. That is the template for every believer's labor, whether it happens in an office, a field, a kitchen, or a classroom. Labor Day is an invitation to pause, appreciate the gift of meaningful work, honor the rest…
