I'm Matthew Mitchell, and tonight's story is titled The Vault of Vanished Voices, Part 2 of this week's series: The Bureau of Forgotten Miracles. The elevator beneath the library did not have buttons for floors. It had a single copper dial that Oliver had to turn until it pointed toward a symbol of a locked heart. The descent was slow and accompanied by the sound of ancient chains rattling in the dark. Minerva stood with her arms crossed, watching the numbers on the scanner climb as they moved further away from the surface. "I have heard that the Core is guarded by a curator who hasn't seen the sun since the invention of the steam engine," Minerva said, her voice echoing in the small space. "If he asks for your name, give him a nickname. Names have power down here, and you do not want to leave yours behind in a ledger." "You can call me Olly," Oliver said, feeling a bit of a chill that had nothing to do with the temperature. "Or perhaps The Brave. No, let's stick with Olly."
