Blues Target Lohrei for Left Side | Boston Bruins News
About this episode
The episode discusses the St. Louis Blues' potential interest in Mason Lohrei as a backup plan if they cannot acquire Alexander Nikishin.
The St. Louis Blues are still pursuing Carolina’s Alexander Nikishin, a restricted free agent who helped the Hurricanes win the Cup — but with training camp looming and Carolina’s stacked defense, a deal seems unlikely. If Nikishin doesn’t work out, the Blues may turn to Mason Lohrei of Boston — a cheaper, six-foot-five defenseman with solid two-way play and over 190 NHL games under his belt. Lohrei’s stats dipped last season as ice time fell, but his offensive upside and fit for St. Louis’ system make him an intriguing backup plan, especially if the Blues need to bolster their left side.
