McAvoy Suspension & Captaincy Race | Boston Bruins News
About this episode
The episode discusses Charlie McAvoy's six-game suspension and the ongoing captaincy race for the Boston Bruins.
Charlie McAvoy’s season kicks off with a six-game suspension after a late-2025 incident where he retaliated with his stick following a slew-foot by Zach Benson — a penalty handed down 11 days later after an in-person hearing. McAvoy, who endured sleepless nights and a broken hand during the wait, acknowledged he presented his case but ultimately accepted the league’s final say. Meanwhile, the Bruins remain without a captain as training camp looms, with David Pastrnak and McAvoy leading the race. McAvoy, entering his 10th season, praised Pastrnak’s Hall of Fame potential and their shared mentorship, insisting there’d be no friction if Pastrnak took the role — and he’s fully supportive of whatever the team decides.
