She Built a Million-Dollar Nonprofit at 27. Then She Lost Everything. What She Built Next Changed Her Forever. Angel Cottrell knows how to build powerful things. She also knows how to rebuild them when they collapse. By twenty-seven, she had already done what most people never dare to imagine. As a young, single mother in Santa Barbara, she founded and led a progressive, multi-million-dollar nonprofit that transformed the lives of people with severe developmental disabilities. She created supported-living homes, staffed twenty-four hours a day, where dignity replaced institutionalization. She launched a state and federally licensed day program. She recruited a team of fifty-five staff members and a full management structure. She did all of this without money, without a college education, without a roadmap. Only passion, grit, and an unshakable calling to change lives. Then her thirties came for her. And they did not come gently. The First Fire Angel’s twenties were a testament to what is possible when a woman refuses to accept limitation as fact.
