The episode covers the ongoing disorder in Belfast, military concerns regarding defense funding, and a reading crisis among young boys.
Police and protestors have clashed in Belfast for the second night in a row, as the family of the knife attack victim have said that they have been left feeling “pretty disgusted” by the disorder. The US carried out a fresh round of strikes against Iran last night, which has once again been described as ‘self-defensive’ action. President Trump had said earlier in the evening that the strikes would stop ‘shortly’ and that he was in direct talks with the Iranian regime - but this was rebuked by Iranian officials- who said it was a "false claim" to provide "cover". The UK's military chief has written to the prime minister amid concerns that an offer of around an extra £13bn to fund a major investment plan for defence is not enough. A reading crisis amongst young boys remains as the gender gap on reading enjoyment widens. FIFA president Gianni Infantino called for people to "chill and relax" over Somali referee Omar Artan being denied entry to the United States to officiate at the World Cup.
