Episode #142 of Daffy's Round Table! On this episode, I’m joined by Nick Lillis from Unlimited Exotics, who is also one of the co-hosts of the Monitor Brains Podcast. I’m also joined by Adam Wickens from Wickens Wicked Reptiles as co-host for this one, because we’re going deep into the world of monitor lizards. We spend a lot of time talking about crocodile monitors, what makes them so unique, Nick’s experience working with them, and what it actually takes to set them up properly and keep them well. We also get into the importance of good enclosure design and why monitors need to be understood on a much deeper level than a lot of people realize. We also talk about the indicus complex, including species like the mangrove monitor, peach throat monitor, quince monitor, and others, and break down what makes that whole group so interesting. On top of that, we talk about how supportive the monitor community can be, the different groups and species of monitors, where monitor keeping might be headed in the future, and briefly touch on laws, regulations, and the importance of responsible ownership and education.
