Davis learns the importance of trusting his teammates and resilience in a baseball game.

What happens when the player with the best plan… has to give it up for his team? Davis has been playing Maplewood Little League for five seasons — all the way back to his first nervous swings in a Lugnuts tee-ball jersey. Now he's the shortstop for the Maplewood Marlins, and he comes to every game with a plan. Double-knot cleats. Three practice swings. And tonight — a pitch-by-pitch read on the Sunnydale Vipers' hard-throwing lefty that he's been building since the first inning. But when the Marlins fall behind and Davis steps to the plate with a runner on first, Coach Danny asks him to do the one thing he didn't plan for. Put the bat on the ball softly. Lay it down.
