About this episode

The episode discusses how God answered David's prayers during his time of distress and the importance of spending time in the Bible.

I know God has a sense of humor! Case in point, David, alone, isolated in the midst of great sorrow and regret, says: “For there is no one who regards me; There is no escape for me; No one cares for my soul. 5 I cried out to Thee, O LORD; I said, “Thou art my refuge, My portion in the land of the living. 6 “Give heed to my cry, For I am brought very low; Deliver me from my persecutors, For they are too strong for me.” Psalm 142:4-6 We can feel the angst of David, and how does God answer him?” “So David departed from there and escaped to the cave of Adullam; and when his brothers and all his father’s household heard of it, they went down there to him. 2 And everyone who was in distress, and everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was discontented, gathered to him; and he became captain over them. Now there were about four hundred men with him.” 1 Samuel 22:1-2 Now, that makes me chuckle, because I can imagine myself saying to God. “Really, this is your answer to my prayer? Now I’m the captain of 400 distressed, indebted, and discontent people? This is all I need!” This crew of ne’er-do-wells became the “Mighty Men of Valor!” (You can review their exploits in 2 Samuel 23:8-37.)…
