| 4/22/26 | ![]() Jesus and His Disciples - Conversation and Prayer. 013 - An Astonishing Conversation - The Woman at the Well. - The Heart of the Matter | Jesus meets a woman at a well; this event gets right to the point. Our lives are much more than what we see physically, and the real existential threat is not to our earthly lives, but to our eternal souls. So critical is this truth that Jesus brings up what the woman would not say. "Go, call your husband, and come here." What unfolded next led the woman to the spiritual. "The woman *said to Him, "Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet." Verse 19 of John 4. The point of this conversation:"Jesus *said to her, "Woman, believe Me, an hour is coming when neither in this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, shall you worship the Father. 22 "You worship that which you do not know; we worship that which we know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 "But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. 24 "God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." John 4:17-20Our So What?Praying for the physical is part of the call we have, but as we mature in our communion with Almighty God, our concerns will shift from the physical to the spiritual."What a man is on his knees before God, that he is and nothing more." | 4/20/26 | ![]() Jesus and His Disciples - Conversation and Prayer. 011 - An Astonishing Conversation - The Woman at the Well. - Spiritual/Physical. | Review of the woman at the well from John 4.We begin today with a prayer for our brothers and sisters in Russia and Ukraine. Most of all, a worldwide revival might even start there, in the midst of turmoil. The conversation in John 4 is as astonishing as our prayers. To the woman, a Jew talking to a Samaritan woman was unthinkable. The holy God of the universe initiating communion with us is just as inconceivable. Yet He does:Moses sees the burning bush; the Hebrews tell us He has spoken in various and sundry ways. At one point, all I knew of the Bible was Romans 6:23, from a billboard.Hebrews also tells us that He is now speaking to us through His Son. "in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world. 3 And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high; 4 having become as much better than the angels, as He has inherited a more excellent name than they." Hebrews 1:2-4And as Jesus is turning the woman from water to eternal life, He tells us in this passage: "…made purification of sins…" Eternity is His message. Our So What?We ask this question: Knowing that the spiritual is so much more critical than the physical. How might that change the content of our prayers? "What a man is on his knees before God, that he is and nothing more." | 4/19/26 | ![]() Devotional 135 - Season 8 - Created for Relationship | In the United States, we face a loneliness problem. With all our communication tools, we lack true community skills. (In the olden days, we called that koinonia, having all things in common.)This need for connection is evident even in the story of creation itself.Genesis 3:8ff teaches that God communed with Adam and Eve in a natural relationship.Further, we need each other. “Then the LORD God said, 'It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him.”“And the LORD God fashioned into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man.” Genesis 2:22Sin, vanity, egocentrism, and self-absorption keep us from one of our greatest needs: community. The result is that we hide from God and hide our intimate selves from one another. I’m tempted to ask, “How’s that going for ya?”Thankfully, in Christ, Colossians 9:12 sums up God's solution: "giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in light." Colossians 9:12Our So What? Our daily prayers show gratitude to our Father for restoring our relationship with Him and with others, reminding us that we are created for community within the family He has adopted us into. “Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever.” Amen1 Timothy 1:17”What a man is on his knees before God, that he is and nothing more." | 4/17/26 | ![]() Jesus and His Disciples - Conversation and Prayer. 010 - An Astonishing Conversation - The Woman at the Well. - Introduction | We are reviewing our podcasts highlighting Jesus and the woman at the well. Fresh season 8 episodes in a few days. In the olden days, driving out to the Boise National Forest and coming home from the same, God talked to me first. It was a hard truth that I had no comprehension of until I unexpectedly found myself in church. God spoke through a billboard containing His word. "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."Romans 6:23God often speaks to us with a hard statement. Romans 6:23 is one of those. For the woman at the well, the hard conversation began with "Give me a drink."The astonishing part was not a command from a strange man, "give me a drink", but that a Jew was talking to a Samaritan,We are dumbfounded to hear from God, not just difficult truths, but that the Holy God of the universe stoops down to converse with His fallen creatures. "When I consider Thy heavens, the work of Thy fingers, The moon and the stars, which Thou hast ordained; 4 What is man, that Thou dost take thought of him? And the son of man, that Thou dost care for him?" Psalm 8:3-4Our So What?Viva la our astonishing conversations. For without those troublesome statements, we would never know we need and have been given a Savior for our souls. "What a man is on his knees before God, that he is and nothing more." | 4/7/26 | ![]() Prayer, Our Underlying Principle in Prayer: Family Language - The Father’s Concern. - Salvation 04 | In his book, “Praying the Bible,” Donald S. Whitney makes the point that one of the difficulties in prayer is that we tend to “say the same old things, about the same old things,” and that gets tiresome. While that is true during some seasons of our lives, his suggestion that we pray as we read our Bibles is a good way to add variety to our supplications. We can also ignite our prayers by constantly remembering those who need salvation. In John 4, Jesus tells the disciples that His food is to do the will of the Father. The will of the Father?“For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” Luke 19:10“For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul?” Mark 8:36“Many other signs therefore Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; 31 but these have been written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name.” John 20:30-31Our So what?We can spice up the same old concerns by remembering those we love who need salvation. Letting our love for others, with the great anticipation of rejoicing in their salvation, invigorate our communion with our Father!Brethren, let’s pray for one another. “Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever.” Amen1 Timothy 1:17”What a man is on his knees before God, that he is and nothing more." | 4/4/26 | ![]() Prayer, Our Underlying Principle in Prayer: Family Language - Read, Read, Read. 03 | We live in a world, especially here in my culture in the United States, we live in a world that's drowning in vitriol, that vitriol, that hatred. Those angry, ugly words are applauded in my culture. And not only that, they're sometimes made heroic. And all they do is tear down.Jesus, on the other hand, asks us to be gentle and humble at heart, and to speak our family language. The language is in a paraphrase form. The language He heard from the Father. How do we learn our family language? Our family language is humor. We make each other laugh.Family language is natural.I learned to cuss from my dad, but only in the company of hard men. In my family, I learned a language that built up unity in love. As Christians, little Christs, as the early church was thus insulted, we learn our family language from the word of God.James 5:12, and: “Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom. 14 But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth. 15 This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic. 16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing. 17 But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy. 18 And the seed whose fruit is righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.: James 4:13-18“Pleasant words are a honeycomb, Sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.” Proverbs 16:24We tell each other the truth, 2 Timothy 4:2We don’t shrink back from the whole counsel:“All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17 that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16Encouraging words, Hebrews 10:23From time to time, I went to work or fishing with my dad, and I learned slowly scurrilous speech, speech that tore down, but the day-to-day language I heard in my home was uplifting even in rebuke. I felt great to be in the family I was born into. Our So what?In our first Family Language episode, we learned “pray, pray, pray,” then we heard “practice practice practice,” now our encouragement is to “read, read, read.” When we expose our growing inner man to the Scriptures, our worship, confession, intercession, supplication, and thanksgiving are besotted or soaked, or permeated with Biblical words that build up. “Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever.” Amen1 Timothy 1:17”What a man is on his knees before God, that he is and nothing more." | 3/29/26 | ![]() Prayer, Our Underlying Principle in Prayer: Practice, Practice, Practice. 02 | We welcome Chile and Czechia to the podcast family, and we highlight the country that has jumped into second place on our list. Thank You, Jesus. Part one of this little. Refresher was Pray, Pray, Pray. In part two, we are encouraged to Practice, Practice, Practice. We see how God is a better Father than we are. He never tells us to avoid prayer until we are mature enough. We are encouraged to let God guide us as we mature, but not to let anyone torpedo the practice and refinement of our prayer lives. God is our Father: “And I will be a father to you, And you shall be sons and daughters to Me,” Says the Lord Almighty.” 2 Corinthians 6:18He trains us in His wisdom:“Train up a child in the way he should go, Even when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6And we are encouraged to practice. “Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things. 9 The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things; and the God of peace shall be with you.” Philippians 4:8-9Our So What?Practice, practice, practice our communion with the only true God.Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. | 3/19/26 | ![]() Prayer, Our Underlying Principle in Prayer:Pray Pray Pray 01 | Once again, a little review, prayer is talking to God; we have made that case from 2018. It is also true we grow in prayer, and a new concept up coming, we will see the importance of our family language. We feature Mauritius in our nuts-and-bolts addendum. In Mauritius, we have the second-largest listening base for the podcast. Today, we are urged, wherever you are in your Christian life, to draw close to God by prayer, prayer, prayer. Free Range Prayer Foundations:And this is eternal life, that they may know Thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom Thou hast sent.John 17:317pray without ceasing; - implies constant conversation.! Thessalonians 5:17“Trust in Him at all times, O people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah.” - He wants to hear from our souls.Psalm 62:8The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, but the prayer of the upright is His delight. - God delights in our communion. Proverbs 15:8Our So What?We find the abundant life, through prayer, and perhaps the most moving call to fellowship with The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is:“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. 29 “Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and YOU SHALL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. 30 “For My yoke is easy, and My load is light.”Matthew 11:28-30 Oh, how we need to rest through prayer! Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. | 3/12/26 | ![]() Prayer 101: Our Signature Episode, What is Prayer? : The Spirit is Willing, but the Flesh is Weak. - Our Conclusion pt 2 | We conclude our Signature Episode in segments with the why of prayer and the difficulty of the truth: "the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. Our growth and consistent prayer move our prayers from a task or discipline to the sweetest part of our day. The Apostle Paul will be our last example. With the insight of a life lived for the spread of the gospel, Paul describes earthly life in this way:Life is full of afflictions, crushed, perplexed, persecuted, struck down, and frustrated. Other inescapable burdens areimmorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like that. How then can the man who accurately details the sorrows and burdens of all God's redeemed also say:Rejoice always; 17 pray without ceasing; 18 in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 andRejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! Philippians 4:4.Our So What?"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."Philippians 4:6-7The art of prayer leads to overcoming all that discourages us in His presence and power. Treasured ones of God, cultivate your prayer life to His glory and your soul's satisfaction, even in this fallen world.AmenBrethren, let us pray for one another to overcome the weakness of the flesh through prayer.
