Truth on Trial Luke 22:63-71 In Luke 22, something unthinkable happens: The only truly innocent man who ever lived is beaten, mocked, and put on trial — while guilty men sit in judgment over Him. And in that moment, something deeper is exposed: When people reject Christ, they’re not putting Him on trial, they’re putting truth itself on trial. The Scene We Cannot Ignore Jesus has been arrested. Betrayed by Judas. Denied by Peter. Now He stands before the religious establishment. But before the formal trial even begins, the guards turn Him into entertainment. – They blindfold Him, strike Him, and even mock Him. “Prophesy! Who is it that struck You?” The irony is staggering. • They blindfold the One who sees everything. • They mock the One who knows every heart. • They strike the One who spoke the universe into existence. This is not just cruelty. This is the arrogance of sin! Sin always mocks what it does not understand. And still today, people mock Christ not because He is unclear — but because His authority confronts their autonomy.
