The Padres suffered a frustrating 7-3 loss to the Orioles, with Griffin Canning struggling on the mound.
The Padres opened their three-game series in Baltimore with another frustrating loss, falling 7-3 to the Orioles at Camden Yards. Griffin Canning’s struggles continued as the right-hander surrendered seven earned runs over five innings, putting San Diego in a massive hole almost immediately. Baltimore scored three times in the first inning and added three more in the second, forcing the Padres to play catch-up all night. Fernando Tatis Jr. drove in a run, stole his 16th base of the season and scored once, while Gavin Sheets continued his hot stretch with two hits and two RBI. Manny Machado added two doubles against his former team, but the offense couldn’t produce the big inning necessary to complete the comeback.
