Within seven days, my electricity was shut off, my phone stopped working, I had to move out of my home because of ongoing dizziness symptoms, I got hit in the head by the trunk of my car, and then… my boyfriend got arrested on our date night. Yes. Handcuffs. Police station. Potential night in jail. The whole thing. And somehow, in the middle of all of it, I experienced one of the deepest recalibrations of my life: I get everything I want. I just don’t get to control the how or the when.
