One person who is accompanying this change at close range is German trainer Lars Hopp. Born in Kiel, he has been mentoring the Vanuatu national team since 2025 and is also involved in building professional structures in the island state. - Während die Fußball-Weltmeisterschaft die Aufmerksamkeit auf die großen Nationen und Stars des Sports lenkt, entwickelt sich auch im Pazifik der Fußball weiter. Mit der neuen OFC Professional League soll erstmals eine professionelle Wettbewerbsstruktur für die Region entstehen. Einer, der diesen Wandel aus nächster Nähe begleitet, ist der deutsche Trainer Lars Hopp. Seit 2025 betreut der gebürtige Kieler die Nationalmannschaft von Vanuatu und wirkt zugleich am Aufbau professioneller Strukturen im Inselstaat mit.
