I had the blessing of having parent who were very responsible, they grew up in a different era with very difficult circumstances, where things needed to be respected at a high level. Having things was an honour and a privilege, not a right. That’s part of the mentality of being a business owner. When we start making a little bit of money, one of the mistakes we make is that we start spending it to show the people around us how well we’re doing on unnecessary expenditure, luxuries. You should delay these until you have enough wealth, it’s fundamentally important to the health of your business, but it’s very difficult for people to do.
