Celebrating Our Union With Christ Sacrament: -- from Latin, oath of allegiance; A rite believed to be a means of or visible form of grace. A deposit by two parties seeking to secure justice. God – Grace Man – Faith Acts 2:41-42 “Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.” Ephesians 1:9-10 (ESV) “making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in Christ, things in heaven and things on earth in him..” Baptism and Communion are powerful sacraments that participate in God’s eternal purpose. Baptism brings us into union with Christ and His body. Communion continually nourishes and celebrates that union. Baptism is not a ritual to be performed but a dynamic that must be a present day and continuous reality.
