On Tuesday, the House voted 308–117 to pass the Sunshine Protection Act of 2025 , a bill that would make Daylight Savings Time (DST) permanent in the United States. The legislation passed with 114 Democrats, 193 Republicans, and one independent in support and now heads to the Senate. President Donald Trump has endorsed the bill, writing in May, “It’s time that people can stop worrying about the ‘Clock,’ not to mention all of the work and money that is spent on this ridiculous, twice yearly production.” Note: While the technically correct term for DST is “Daylight Saving Time,” Tangle has opted to use the more colloquial “Daylight Savings Time,” a decision we explained here .
