Bennett Tanton discusses the theological implications of the Nephilim's existence after the Flood and introduces his new book on the subject.

The Flood destroyed the Nephilim. All of them. Zero survived physically. God's judgment was total. So why are there Nephilim in Numbers 13, 800 years after the Flood? The popular answer -- that Nephilim genetics came through the ark hidden in Noah's daughters-in-law -- is theologically wrong and textually unsupported. It implies God's judgment has a leak. It does not. The correct answer is that the program ran again. After Babel, God allotted seventy nations to seventy sons of God (Deuteronomy 32:8-9, Dead Sea Scrolls). Those territorial divine beings ran the Genesis 6 program in their assigned territories, producing fresh hybrid offspring -- the Anakim, Rephaim, Emim, Zamzummim. Not surviving bloodlines.
