This episode discusses how to improve productivity by focusing energy effectively, using the metaphor of a garden hose's spray settings.
You probably have a garden hose at your house. If you take a look at the spray nozzle at the end of your hose, you are very likely to see five words. Mist. Shower. Flat. Cone. Jet. When your hose is on “Mist” , the water kind of goes everywhere, but it is a weak stream and pretty scattered and not very powerful. It is a whole different story when you rotate over to “Jet.” A very powerful stream of water can do some damage if you are not careful about where you are aiming your hose. It’s the same hose, with the same amount of water and the same pressure, but completely different results. I think you can probably see where I am going with this. When the “tyranny of the urgent” takes over, our energy is scattered and inefficient. However, on those rare occasions when we really get into a flow of focused work, we get to feel the flood of dopamine that comes with being highly productive. On today’s episode of The Private School Leader Podcast, we are going to learn some Productivity Lessons From A Garden Hose (How To Go From "Mist" To "Jet") . Thank you for listening to the podcast every week. You are making a difference in the lives of the students, teachers and parents…
