I want to begin with a prediction. I believe that over the next two years, one of the biggest conversations in independent and private schools will be answering the following question: “How much technology actually belongs in the classroom? For almost twenty years, schools have raced toward more technology. We have become 1:1 and we have purchased iPads and online curriculums and apps and other types of educational technology. Of course, this has led to more screen time, especially during COVID. A growing movement has emerged that many people are calling the "Unplugged Movement." At the same time, a new book called The Digital Delusion by neuroscientist Dr. Jared Cooney Horvath has become one of the most talked-about books in education circles. The important things to remember are: Your parents are going to hear about this book. Your parents and board members are going to hear about the unplugged movement.
