About this episode

Marianne Fons discusses the parallels between quilting and novel writing, along with insights on the business of creativity.

In this episode Marianne Fons joins to talk about teaching quilting on public TV with her Quilty partner Liz Porter, long before the internet and youtube! It was great to be able to ask her about what the business landscape looked like when direct mail was how you reached your customers. Surprisingly, some aspects of business haven’t changed at all, and we talked about the importance of the right person doing the right job within a growing business, and that she and Liz were great opposites and compliments to each other. Recently, she has shifted her interests to becoming a novelist, and has a book coming out next year. Our conversation covers some of the similarities in creating books and creating quilts, and lot about creative inspiration in general.
