IMPRINTS - Reinforced Records (1990-1996) - d mix & Evolve Reinforced Records. Inspired by a night in the Jazz Cafe recently with 4 Hero, Fabio and Grooverider amongst others. I thought it was time to jump into a truly foundational label. One of the first i collected actually! Founded in ‘89 by Marc Mac and Gus Lawrence then joined by Dennis McFarlane. Most of the early releases were combinations of the founders themselves, 4Hero, Manix and Tek 9. Moving towards late ‘92/’93 the label was at the forefront of the darker side of the music. Looking at Goldie with Rufige, the continued work of Doc Scott and Nasty Habits, and not forgetting 4Hero and the techier sample led sound of theirs. You also have to mention the Enforcers Series that was so popular and are still so sought after! I’ve decided to focus on the earlier music from Reinforced, finishing up just about where the ‘2nd Phase’ started. I’ll take you right up to ‘96. I’ll dedicate a final section to one of my favourite producers, Nookie. Who took the Reinforced energy and added that musicality he’s so well known for.
