ISABEL PINE - FABLES After a few self-released EP-releases in 2021-2023 and a self-released album ('Where The Flowers Grow') in 2024, classical-trained violinist Isabel Pine now gets her well-deserved recognition with this album release. On no less than the legendary Kranky label, mind you! Pine studied classical music from the age of 3 through into college. Over time, she began to feel 'frustrated and limited in a world that did not provide much of an outlet for individual creativity' . After moving to British Columbia, the raw beauty of the wilderness inspired her to start recording in her home studio and combine her music with field recordings from her surroundings. The pieces on Fables were all recorded in the fall of 2024. The string instrument parts were sometimes recorded in a small, remote cabin, but also outside - incorporating the sound of the surrounding. Most of the tracks on the album are performed on cello, violin and viola, except for two more 'electronic ambient' tracks: Snow (dividing the album in two parts) and the closing track Butterfly Lands On A Flower The compositions (or 'vignettes') are all relatively short, but their impact is all the stronger…
