Dr. Jill Biden is an educator, author, and former first and second lady of the United States. Dr. Biden began her career as a high school English teacher, and although her husband, then-Senator Joe Biden, had grand political aspirations, she continued to teach and further her own education. She earned two master's degrees as well as a doctorate and has worked as a reading specialist, in a psychiatric hospital, and as a community college English professor, among other roles. After her husband became vice president and then president, Dr. Biden became the first first lady in U.S. history to hold a job outside of the White House during her tenure.
