In March 1997, thousands of people across Arizona reported seeing strange lights moving silently across the night sky. Many witnesses described a massive V-shaped or triangular object, so large that it seemed to block out the stars as it passed overhead. Later that evening, another set of lights appeared near Phoenix and was captured on video. The military explained those lights as flares dropped during training exercises, but many witnesses insisted the earlier sightings were different — a huge, silent craft moving across the state. The case became one of the most famous mass UFO sightings in history. Even Arizona Governor Fife Symington later admitted that he had seen something unusual that night, describing it as enormous and unlike anything he could identify. To this day, the Phoenix Lights remain debated. Some believe they were military flares and misidentified aircraft, while others believe something truly unknown crossed the Arizona sky.
