One day they were the most powerful and wealthy royal family in the world, their ancestors having been in charge of Russia for more than 300 years. NEK MINIT... Tsar Nicholas II, his wife Tsarina Alix and their five children (including the legendary Anastasia) are taken down to a basement in the middle of the night and killed, in a VERY botched and violent execution. For years, Russia refused to acknowledge what really happened that night, which led to much speculation about their fate. Thanks to DNA testing, the bodies of Nicholas, Alix and four of their children were finally identified and given a royal burial in 1998. But the skeletal remains of the other two Romanov children are still, to this day, sitting in a Russian archive, because the Russian Orthodox Church refuses to acknowledge them as authentic Romanovs, despite DNA proof. So... does the church know something we don’t know? Did all of the Romanovs actually die that night? Or did 16-year-old Anastasia escape and move to Florida, eventually retire and become one of the Golden Girls?
