About this episode

Austin McCord discusses the new BCDR appliance Slide and its significance in the MSP backup landscape.

The Datto founder is back with a new BCDR appliance, and it might be the coolest thing in MSP backup right now. Austin McCord, who built Datto from his parents' basement in 2007 and sold it for $1.5 billion before Kaseya picked it up in 2022, teamed up with longtime Datto exec Michael Fass to launch Slide. They call it unfinished business. In this video, I unbox the Slide hardware, walk through the Z1, Z2, F1, R1, and B1 models (the B1 holds up to 150 terabytes), and explain why a physical backup box still matters in a cloud obsessed world. I also break down the pay as you go pricing and which clients actually need this kind of power. Just to be clear, this is not sponsored. I asked Slide for the hardware because the story is awesome, and we are using it at our own MSP. Want to grow your MSP? Head to growth-generators.com to check out MSP Heroes and grab the book.
