About this episode

The episode discusses Genocide Remembrance Month and features conversations about the Tamil genocide and current events in Lebanon and Israel.

April is Genocide Remembrance Month and this week we ask, how do we remember victims of genocide? We speak with British-Tamil poet Shash Trevett whose book, The Naming of Names honors the lives of Tamil people killed throughout the Sri Lankan genocide. But first, Lebanon and Israel will meet this week for a second round of direct talks. Hezbollah chief Naim Qassem rejected the negotiations last week. Meanwhile there are renewed and more vocal calls to disarm Hezballah. And Israel has continued to blow up neighbourhoods in border villages in southern Lebanon, including razing of civilian infrastructure. What does a neutralized Lebanon mean for the region? What is the future of Hezballah? To understand the realities on the ground in Lebanon, we are joined, once again, by Lebanese anthropologist Munira Khayyat from Beirut. Misha Choudhry and Ankine Antaram host.
