Radio Intifada previews the Saturday, May 9th event Sumud: A celebration of Palestinian Culture, Resistance, and Solidarity. In remembrance of the 78th year of the Palestinian Nakba, @kpfk is convening journalists, labor leaders, entertainment organizers, educators, filmmakers, and faith communities for an afternoon and evening in Los Angeles. On this Radio Intifada special we hear from Saturday’s keynote, Dr. Ramzy Baroud, editor of Palestine Chronicle, author of Before the Flood, and one of the most widely read Palestinian journalists alive; Rolla Selbak, a Palestinian filmmaker dropped by her agency for speaking on Palestine; and Nidal Rafeedie, VP of Teamsters Local 1932, who pushed his 14,000-member local to publicly call for ceasefire and a halt to U.S. military aid.
