About this episode

The episode discusses the impact of marketing algorithms on personal content and touches on topics like collagen and menopause.

W/C 6th July 2026 At first I thought the marketing algorithm might have lost the plot? I say that because this week I have been getting some very extended posts about the benefits of collagen, and the difference it can (and has if the posts are to be believed) made to the lives of many suffering the symptoms of the menopause. As you would expect my first thought was how and why are these finding a way into my feed, normally reserved for adverts about tennis trainers, tai-chi workouts, and how to spot the tell-tale signs of prostate cancer. But at the point I was discussing this with Alison as we wandered down the middle aisle of Lidl, I realised the genius of algorithm. I had succeeded in my task, and delivered the marketing message I was supposed to deliver, to the person it was intended for, in a bespoke and personalised manner. Exactly how I would like all of my notifications to be.. Stay safe. Holding Out For a Hero - Bonnie Tyler Therapy For Me (or TFM as I now refer to it) is a bit of an audio curiosity.
